Lovely hotel and carvery restaurant. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. Often a deal on worth looking out for. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable.
This was our 4th visit to the Old Tollgate which we visit fairly regularly so that I may visit my father. I cannot praise the staff from reception through to the restaurant highly enough. We are always made to feel welcome and special. My husband loves the carvery and the copious buffet breakfast.I have two small reservations. Personally I find the beds a little too soft. The second is that, although the food is excellent, particularly that available for the first course, the carvery can get a little 'samey' after a whole. I have not deducted a star for these reservations as I consider the service provided by the staff merits 5 stars on its own and the two reservations may not apply to other people booking in to the hotel.
Wonderful large room. Friendly helpful staff. Only downside was a 20 minute wait for our wine order to be taken and had to ask how the restaurant service worked But otherwise had a fabulous stay
Lovely place so old, little nooks and crannies. The food is lovely, starters are fresh and varied, the mains are lovely and hot good variety of meats and vegetarian. Desserts yummy x
This hotel is situated in a beautiful village. We had a nice room in the annexe, which was clean, had a comfy bed and a great shower. The food in the restaurant was fantastic value for money and we could not fault anything. Carvery was excellent and puddings delicious with a great choice.. We have stayed here several times now and would recommend to others.
