Food delicious, cannot fault, not many choices of lager for a northerner but happy with what was on offer. Would certainly recommend
The Chequer under new management provides an authentic pub experience with great food and friendly attentive staff. We were pleasantly surprised at the great traditional pub menu and warm ambiance offered.
Only stopped by for a couple of beers after Xmas shopping. Great beer and Sam was very friendly. Will call in again for sure.
Lovely place for a bite and a pint midweek. Busier on a weekend with live music frequently on. Great place overall.
Under new management this pub has changed a lot. Food is not traditional fayre for a country town pub our guests could not find anything they wanted to.eat and the coffee machine was broken again!Understaffed. Owners dog was seen to come out of the kitchen. We used to there after shopping for a drink, a well filled sandwich and generous bowl of chips now we go home. The pub now feels unwelcoming and has noteably fewer locals in it when it used to be packed on Saturday lunches.
